The Iridium communication network is unique for it's high tolerance for interference and total Earth coverage, including the poles. A network of sixty six low earth orbit satellites which avoid land-based network outages by routing signals between them is just one of the reasons why Iridium satellite phones are usually the first choice for rescue organizations and companies with outposts in isolated locations.
Iridium is emerging as a market leader in machine-to-machine communication systems, enabling monitoring and telemetry of land and sea based vehicles and ships, but also buildings and other immovable constructions, as well as other types of automated communication.
Davor Rostuhar is the first Croatian to independently win the South Pole. Throughout the voyage communication was achieved via the Iridium service, two satellite Iridium phones, and the Iridium GO device for sending data. It was the only communication with the rest of the world.
"I would like to thank very much the Zagreb company ING-servis, the leading satellite communications company in Croatia, which helped me with this equipment and data traffic." Davor Rostuhar
